Who We Are

Raised on small town values, first generation Funeral Director Melissa and husband Chad Janowicz take great pride in owning and operating Janowicz Family Funeral Home. 

Melissa was born and raised in Oscoda, MI where she graduated from Oscoda High School.  After graduation she began taking classes at Delta College before moving on to the Mortuary Science Program at Wayne State University.  In 2011 Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science.  

Chad was born in Bay City, MI and raised in Sebewaing, MI where he graduated from USA high school.  After graduation he began classes at Western Michigan University before transferring to Northwood University where he earned his Masters in Business Administration.

In November of 2012, Chad and Melissa bought Crittenden-Hansen Funeral Home from Larry Hansen who had invested nearly 45 years into the business. The two couldn't have been more excited to begin their new venture together in the wonderful town of Remus.

In June of 2015, Chad and Melissa welcomed their first child, Kase Michael Janowicz into the world.  They instantly fell in love with being parents and decided Kase needed a sidekick. In June of 2016, the family of three welcomed Grace Margaret Janowicz into their lives just three days shy of Kase's first Birthday.  Because life wasn't quite hectic enough, Chad and Melissa welcomed another son into their family, Reed Myles Janowicz, on October 29, 2017. Never a dull moment!
