Obituary of Alex John Konopczynski

Alex Konopczynski, age 86 of Mecosta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Alex was born at his family home in Wyandotte, Michigan on March 25, 1935 to parents Alex Frank Konopczynski and Julia Wojnar. Alex married the love of his life, Phyllis Templin on April 19, 1958. Together the two grew their family to include three children. Alex and Phyllis later moved from Wyandotte to Horse Head Lake where they spent 23 years together surrounded by their family, sunshine, and the water. 

Alex loved old cars, spending time out on the boat, and had quite a knack for landscaping. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. Alex’s intelligence, wise words, and humor made him a stand out family man. 

Left to lovingly cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Templin) Konopczynski; children, Sherry (John) Davis, Steven Konopczynski, and Stacey (Bob) Wright; brother, Ronald Konopczynski; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Davis, Justin Davis, Joshua Konopczynski, Alyson Konopczynski, Zachary Wright, Sarah Wright, and Hannah Wright;  

Alex was preceded in death by his father, Alex Frank Konopczynski; mother, Julia Wojnar; and his sister, Gracia Konopczynski. 

In accordance to Alex’s wishes, cremation will take place with a celebrationof life to take place downstate at a later date. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice.
