Obituary of Barbara Ruth Fate

Barbara Ruth Fate, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away July 6, 2021 at Margaret’s Meadows at the age of 90.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s in Remus on Monday July 12th at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service begins.

 

Barbara was born June 23, 1931 to parents Clifford W. Buck and Teresa E. Michael in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1950, Barbara moved to Remus and on September 9, 1950, she married the love of her life, Horace Joseph Fate. Together, the two of them grew their family to include five children. 

 

Her zest for life and outgoing personality led her on many adventures throughout her life. Barbara was an active member at St. Michael’s Catholic Parish, as well as the Wheatland Music Festival, where she volunteered for many years. Barbara will be remembered most for her feistiness, genuine love for life, and her straightforward attitude! 

 

Left to cherish her vibrant memory are her children, Joseph (Linda) Fate, Alex William Fate, Michael John (Sandy) Fate, Teresa (Bill) Doughty, Dianna (John ) Doughty, and Jarrod Fate; sibling, Bill (Kit) Buck; sister in law, Irene Buck; as well as a vast abundance of grand children and great grand children, whom she deeply enjoyed. 

 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford W. Buck and Teresa E. Michael; husband, Horace Joseph Fate; brother, Michael Buck, and her son, Donald Edward Fate.
