Obituary of Howard "Dutch" Otto Skalitzky

Howard “Dutch” Skalitzky, age 87 of Remus, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017, at the Isabella Medical Care Facility in Mount Pleasant. A memorial mass will be held Friday, October 20th, at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Dutch was born July 8, 1930, the son of Otto and Anna (Newbecker) Skalitzky. He married the love of his life, Marge Lett on February 28, 1965, and together the two grew their family to include two sons.

Dutch was a hard-working man that enjoyed doing things with his hands. From carving wood, to helping his kids fix their vehicles, he always kept busy doing something. A people person, Dutch enjoyed kids and helping others however he was able. He was also an animal lover and known to be gentle and kind. In his younger years, Dutch served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard for three years.

His great sense of humor and loving nature will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Marge; sons, Edward and Michael (Patrice) Skalitzky; sister-in-law, Bonnie; brother-in-law, Lee, and grandchildren, Alyssa, Connor, Laynie, and Taylor.

Dutch was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray, Dick (Alice), and Jim Skalitzky, and sister, Helen.
