Evon Taylor

Obituary of Evon Ruth Taylor

Evon Ruth Taylor, our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away October 21, 2017, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, at the age of 79. A memorial ceremony will be held Monday, October 30th, at 11:00 AM, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Mecosta, with Pastor Greg Buchner officiating.  Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, and again on Monday from 10:00 AM to the time of service at the church.

Evon was born February 1, 1938, in Bay City, MI, the daughter of Allen and Ardis (Terwilliger) Warren. After moving to the Mecosta area, Evon graduated from Mecosta high school, and married the love of her life, Gordon “Buck” Taylor, shortly after. She and Buck were blessed with 60 years of marriage, three children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, before her passing. The two also enjoyed many days full of family time, turkey hunting, and fishing together. Evon loved to garden, cook, and host family holidays. She was always focused on others and their needs, rather than worrying about herself. Her giggle was known to be infectious, and she was known to be a bit of a “spitfire” from time to time. A very involved member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Evon was on numerous committees, took part in Wednesday bible study, and helped with the many concerts the church hosted.

Evon’s caring and selfless nature will be greatly missed by her husband, Buck; children, Sherelei Kimball and Brenda (Tim) Jeffreys; son-in-law, Chris Momany; brothers, Vernon (Irene) Warren, Ronald Warren; Sister in-law, Karen Taylor; grandchildren, Courtney (Curt) Williams, Ked (Christie) Pomeroy, David Kimball, Kyle (Hillary) Jeffreys, Christopher Momany, and Eme Jeffreys; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Adalyn, Bryce, Beckett, and Kyle, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kimberly Momany; father and mother-in-law, Doyle and Elsie Taylor; brother-in-law Robert Taylor, and sisters-in-law Bonnie Warren and Kathy Warren.

Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the New Hope Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at church. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home, church, or online at JanowiczFamilyFuneralHome.com.
