Obituary of Edward Henry Heldt
Edward “Ed” Heldt, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Canadian Lakes, Michigan on Tuesday morning, November 7, 2017. He was born February 11, 1938, to Edward Sr and Florence (nee Herrmann) Heldt in Detroit, Michigan.
On June 22, 1957, he married his beautiful bride, Carol Thompson, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Taylor Michigan. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed his time pursuing both with his sons, Robert and John. He also enjoyed his carpentry work, taking great satisfaction in using his hands to create beautiful furniture, and in making both ornamental and functional pieces for his church and others. He tirelessly served the Lord in many areas at Chapel of the Lakes, and before that at Concordia University of Ann Arbor, MI.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol; his sons John (Jamieann) and Robert (Betty), his seven grandchildren – Jennifer, Ariel, Leisha, Darick, Joellen, Mitchell, and Stephanie; and his great-grandson of eight months, Mason, and his sister, Janet Heldt, of Sunbury, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017, at The Chapel of the Lakes, Mecosta, Michigan. A short visitation period will begin at 10 AM, with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM.
