Obituary of Sona Lynn Gatehouse

Sona Lynn Gatehouse, our talented and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital, in Lakeview. Cremation will take place with a memorial ceremony to be held in her honor Tuesday, January 30th, at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Her family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.   
 
Sona was born April 13, 1958, in Alma, MI, the daughter of Chester and Velita (Wood) St. Peter.  She married the love of her life, Jack Gatehouse, on December 10, 1993, and the two spent the next 25 years together. An extremely talented person, Sona drew and painted many beautiful pictures, made countless cakes, was a florist, and dabbled in photography. She excelled at everything she did, due to her natural artistic abilities. Sona enjoyed camping, was an avid fisherman, and cherished time spent with her family. She was a selfless person that always did for others, however she never wanted anyone to go out of their way for her, even during her last days.
 
Smart, proud, motivated, and caring were all words used to describe Sona.
 
She will be so deeply missed by her husband, Jack; mother, Velita; children, Kelli (Christopher) Walton, Karie (William) Boyd, Jack (Joanna) Gatehouse, Jerimiah (Whitney) Gatehouse, and Jenna (Brad) Grover; grandchildren, Charlotte, Lennon, Claire, Sienna, Cameron, Ayla, Connor, Reese, Oakley, Gentry, Kenley, Haley, Jonathan, Gage, Gavin, and Cohen; sister, Vel (Richard) Soderburg; brothers, Blaine (Lynn) St. Peter and Jeff (Connie) St. Peter; mother-in-law, Sarah; sister-in-law, Brenda (Brian), and brothers-in-law, Terry and Kenneth.
 
Sadly, Sona was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Gatehouse; father, Chester, and father-in-law, Kenneth.
