Obituary of Edie Ann Flachs

Edith “Edie” Ann Day-Flachs age 76, passed away on May 18, 2018 at her home in Remus.  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus with Father Michael Burt as celebrant. Visitation will be held Monday, May 21st from 6-8:00 PM at the church, and again at 10:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. 

Edie was born in Detroit on November 14, 1941, the daughter of Louis and Edith (Kubbe) Barath. She was outgoing, with a generous spirit and would do anything for anyone.  Edie was a strong woman in more ways than one, and a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother with family being a very important part of her life. She loved being an OB Nurse for many years, was an avid hunter, great bowler, enjoyed camping and being outdoors. She was very involved at St. Michael’s Church, as well as in her community.  One of her favorite things to do was to have coffee with her friends at Helen’s Restaurant in Remus.  If Edie wasn’t home, you could bet she was at the bowling alley, or Helen’s.  

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, Gordon, her 9 children, Chris (Cindi) Day, Susan Day (Jack Smith), Jim (Aimee) Day, David (Alisa) Day, Colleen (Tony) DeNardo, Mike Day, Steve (Michelle) Day, Stacey Flachs, John Fountain, and Pamela Baker; one brother, Dennis Barath; one sister, Sarah Mathews; 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. 

Edie was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Captain James Raymond Day (Army) in 1977.
