Obituary of Betty Jane Jones

Betty Jane Jones of Blanchard, MI, went home Thursday, June 14, 2018, with her family by her side at the age of 75. A funeral service will be held in her honor Saturday, June 23^rd, at 1:00 PM, at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, with Pastor Susan O’Bryan officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 11:00 AM to the time of service. Burial will follow in Decker Cemetery. 

Betty was born February 10, 1943, in Blanchard, MI, the daughter of Charles and Vernice (Cook) Manning. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for nearly 30 years as a Post Master, before her retirement.After she retired, Betty worked atLoafers Glory, Mt. Pleasant Extended Care, and Nbakada Restaurant at Soaring Eagle Water Park.A hard worker, Betty hardly ever sat still. She was either tending to her yard, cleaning the house, caring for her family, or cooking. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden as well as canning her harvest. She was great at sewing and embroidery, and made numerous beautiful quilts for her friends and family, as well as clothes for her daughters when they were young. Betty always told it like it was, and could get feisty when necessary. A devout Christian, she never missed a Sunday service, and enjoyed reading Christian novels. She was a huge Jimmy Swaggart fan, which often drover her family crazy. She would listen to him all day everyday if she had it her way. Known as “plain Jane”, Betty kept life, and everything in it, simple. Whether it was clothing, furniture, or any other necessity, Betty would choose the most plain option available. Her family meant the world to her, especially those who called her “GG”. 

Betty will be deeply missed by her daughters, Cynthia Lehnert and Grace Williams; sisters, Nora Cummings and Joyce Keels; grandchildren, Marcella Jones, Elizabeth Williams, Rosalie Williams, and Wesley Williams (Carlie), and great-grandchildren, Mariana, Myles, and baby Esmae (on the way).

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Merlyn Manning, Allen Jay Manning, and Irma Margene Dean.
