Rodney Linhart

Obituary of Rodney Wayne Linhart

Rodney Wayne Linhart, age 67 of Remus, passed away June 18, 2018, at McLaren Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral ceremony will be held in Rodney’s honor on Friday June 22, 2018, at 2:00 PM, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remus. Pastor Jonathan Voss will officiate with burial to follow in Wambolt cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to the time of service at 2:00 PM at the church.

Rodney was born July 2, 1950, in Toledo, OH, to June Gallager. He was raised and educated in Garden City, MI, before he decided to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. During his time in the service, Rodney was exposed to Agent Orange resulting in the loss of his lower legs and his long-term battles with cancer. But because of his faith and wonderful sense of humor, he never once felt sorry for himself. When asked how he was doing, Rodney would often reply with, “ I’m pretty good, but my ankles are swollen.” Even when faced with cancer, and all of the ailments that come with it, he never let that get his spirit down. He just kept being the same caring, funny, and generous person he had always been.

Rodney loved to volunteer his time helping others, and did that through teaching bible school at Chapel of the Lakes, helping to build God’s Helping Hands, and simply being there for others when they needed someone to talk to or lean on.

An avid card player, Rodney could often be found at the poker table at Soaring Eagle Casino. He also loved to sing karaoke, and was very good at it, as well as hunting and fishing. But more than anything, his daughter, Beth was the light of his life. Rodney always put her and her needs before his own, right up to his last day. He and Beth were best friends and adored working and enjoying life together. The two collectively ran Elizabeth’s Scrap Metals, which many people knew Rodney from.

Left to cherish his humorous and faithful memory are his daughter, Elizabeth (Brian) Linhart – Murdock; sister, Rose Hance; brother, Frank Linhart; granddaughter, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Emily, and nephews Tim and Todd Hance and their families.

Rodney was preceded in death by his mother; best friend, Charlie Hoag, and grandson, Stephen Murdock.

Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Elizabeth Linhart-Murdock. Envelopes will be available at the church.
