Thomas Larson

Obituary of Thomas G Larson

Thomas G. Larson, caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away June 16, 2020 at his home. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 20th, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, followed by a graveside service at Wambolt Cemetery at 11:15 AM. Fr. Tom Boufford will officiate the service with a luncheon to follow at the Wheatland Township Pavilion.

Tom was born April 20, 1939, in Detroit, MI, the son of George and Mary Katherine (Ryan) Larson. He married the love of his life, Ruth Ann, on August 16, 1957, and together the two grew their family to include five children. Tom worked for 37 years as a Cartographer for the U.S. Geological Survey, which allowed he and his family to travel around the U.S. for many years. Tom had a passion for hot rods and tinkering in the garage. He was even in to street racing in his younger days. A member of both the Wheatland Twp. And Morton Twp. Fire and Rescue departments, Tom thoroughly enjoyed being of service to his community. He had a “unique” sense of humor and would often play jokes on his family, but they knew to never play a joke on him. Politics were always a topic Tom was eager to speak on; it was just a matter of if you dare engage in that particular conversation with him or not. Aside from his dry humor and quick wit, Tom was a very helpful person who always put his family first.

Left to cherish his vibrant memory are his children, David Larson, Debbie (Elvin) Eagleson, John Larson, Julie (Darold) Sutter, and Dr. Megan Larson (Chris Watts); siblings, Georgia Cecil, and Mike (Candie) Poumade; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and his three beloved cats.

Sadly, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 44 years, Ruth Ann Larson.

Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Michigan United Conservation Clubs at 2101 Wood St, Lansing, MI 48912.
