Obituary of Jim VanAlstine

James “Jim” Ray VanAlstine age 76, of Vestaburg passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 in Ann Arbor. Private Services for Jim will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus.

Jim was born in Shephard on September 3, 1944, the son of Charles and Anna (Youngs) VanAlstine.  He was a hard worker and had a huge love for cars of any kind, sadly the last one he purchased was only enjoyed and driven twice by Jim.  His family was important to him but there was also a special place in his heart for his dog that he called “Joe Dawg”.  He was a proud US Army Veteran serving his country in Vietnam.

He is survived by his son, James “JD” VanAlstine; daughters, Jamie (Destry) Powers, Sandra VanAlstine and Barbara Purvis (Don Baumann); brothers, Myron VanAlstine, Perry (Laura) Hilton, Gordy (Barb) Howe; sisters, Pauline Talkowski, Joyce (Rene) Perez, Pat Pence; 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
