Obituary of Richard Emil Tice

Richard Emil Tice, age 82 of Canadian Lakes, MI, passed away unexpectedly December 30, 2020 at his home. Per his wishes, cremation will take place with no service to follow at this time. 

Richard was born May 21, 1938, the son of Lester and Ruth (Johnson) Tice. He touched the lives of many students during his 34 years as a science teacher for Sparta Middle School, and thoroughly enjoyed his time there. An avid outdoorsman, Richard spent a lot of time with his sons fishing, hunting, and hiking. After retirement, he was able to golf frequently with his Canadian Lakes friends at the local golf courses, including Tullymore and St. Ives, where he was a member. In his younger years, Richard was a phenomenal pitcher in softball. He coached 8^th grade boys’ basketball, and high school girls’ softball for decades. He was an active member of the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church, as well as their choir director for some time. Richard’s love for music and his beautiful singing voice led him to join the Canadian Lakes Men’s Choir and Quartet. Caring, quiet, and kind were all words used to describe Richard. His gentle soul will be deeply missed by his wife of 21 Years, Sandra Tice; sons, Jeffrey and Terry Tice; sister, Judith Stark, and nine grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Tice, and sister, MaryAnn Roggenbaum.
