Obituary of Elnora M Young

Elnora May Young passed away peacefully in her sleep at her grandson’s home on January 13, 2021.  She was 86 years old.  Elnora was born on September 11, 1934, at her grandmother’s home. Elnora was married to Edward Neal Young on November 13, 1953.  They were married 42 years.  Elnora had one child with her husband Sueann (Young) Murphy.  Edward preceded her in death on November 22, 1995.  She was also preceded in death by her Father-Howard Blackmer, Mother-Eunice (Darnell) Blackmer, Sister-Zada Harvey, and Brother-Harold Blackmer.

Elnora is survived by her daughter Sueann Murphy (Robert “Bobby”), 5 grandchildren Shawn Valentine, Mandy Chaney (Chad), Paul Valentine (Linette Fredricksen), Karmyn Valentine, Robert (Ricky) Murphy; 11 great grandchildren Aleeya Chaney, Emily Chaney, Ariah Chaney, Garett Chaney, Mathew Chaney, Maycee Chaney, Jacob Chaney, Mackenzie DeLong, Bryce DeLong, Alee Valentine, and Camdyn Valentine.

Elnora enjoyed reading (especially her bible), crocheting, church, arts, crafts, helping others, and being a foster grandmother (Winn Elementary School).  She made the following statement for her class of 1953 supplement book:  “When I look at my life today, I don’t know that is much different.  I have God in my life, friends, and a very large extended family.  I have been adopted by my son-in-law’s family as mom, grandma, and great grandma.  I have a great big family that love and care for me.  To be with them and my Lord…what more can I ask for?”  

Elnora's funeral will be held at New Beginnings Church, 1154 West Fleck Road, Six Lakes, Michigan 48886.

Viewing from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., funeral at 1 p.m., with a small lunch after.  

Due to COVID-19, there will be room for social distancing with multiple rooms.  Masks, wipes, sanitizer, and gloves will be provided.
