Obituary of Max Gerard Bott
Max Bott, age 91 of Remus, passed away January 12, 2021, at Royal View Assisted Living in Mecosta, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, January 23rd, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus, at 11:00am, with Father Tom Boufford as Celebrant. Visitation will be held at Janowicz Family Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4pm to 6pm (Rosary service at 6pm) and again one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Max was born October 11, 1929, the son of Urban and Alice (Gietzen) Bott. He married Martha “Marty” Abel on June 14, 1958, and together the two grew their family to include six children. Marty was his lifelong companion and friend, travelling together often. Max’s devotion to Marty led Max to becoming her caretaker before her passing in 2017. Max proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War before he began working for Fortino Beverage as a beer distributor. A devout catholic, Max was an involved member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was an usher, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Men’s Club, the Remus Lions, and often ran the beer tent for the Church’s Fun Day. Max enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, bowling and golfing. But what he loved most was time spent with his family.
He was the loving father of Theresa (Kevin) Breen, Maureen (Dennis) Wolfe, Susan (Tim) LeClair, Max A. (Kirsten) Bott, Allen (Lori) Bott, and Phillip (Elizabeth) Bott; Grandpa Max to 17 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren with one on the way, and loving brother to Thomas (Mary Lynn) Bott, Arnie (Joan) Bott, and Joseph (Sandy) Bott.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marty Bott, and siblings, James Bott, Doreen Doerr, three-year-old brother, Gale, and infant twin siblings.
