Bill Foster

Obituary of Bill Foster

Today, we want to share with you a glimpse of the legacy of William David Foster, who also answered to Wilbur, Billy, Dad and Gramps, and who left this world on
February 24, 2021.
Bill was born and raised in Blanchard, Michigan, where he began his life as the son of Rex and Lenore (Kane) Foster and brother to Steven, Patricia and Catherine. He graduated in 1969 from Montabella High School, was co-owner of Foster's Sales and Service and retired from Tri County Propane.
He built his life with his wife, Marcia and his two children, Katie and Andy. His family later grew to include grandbabies Maggie, Natalie, Clara, Maxie and Andrew, who were the lights of his life.
In addition to being a devoted family man, he was a dedicated public servant, volunteering for the Millbrook Rolland Fire Department, Knights of Columbus, Sons of the American Legion and the Blanchard Parks and Recreation Board. Bill initiated the formation of the Millbrook Rolland First Responders.
His unassuming leadership was evidenced by “the little things”: the commaradery around the pot of coffee, adult beverage or bottomless pretzel rod container at the Foster's Sales and Service station, the generations of kids who brought their bikes to Bill Foster for a new tube, grease job or annual tune up, the grace he showed his customers who had fallen on hard time. And the list goes on.
Bill was compassionate and giving to a fault, he could relate to people from all walks of life and found goodness in everyone. Bill possessed courage, strength and a positive attitude in the face of obstacles, especially at the end of his life, when he dealt not only with the debilitating effects of a stroke but also the terminality of cancer.
Bill was a man of unwavering Faith who embraced his journey to the Kingdom of God. He was kind, humble and honorable and his charming smile and bright eyes commanded the room.
His was a life well lived, with family and friends, music and laughter and few regrets. Our hearts are broken but filled with memories to last us until we meet again. Happy trails to you
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
